The cognitive self is a crucial source of moral information and in this analysis, reflexivity means that the self is structured through an internally referential system.

The self is a ‘reflexive project’ for which the individual is continuously responsible. The moral thread of self-actualization is one of authenticity based on ‘being true to oneself’.
